Which car lift is right for you?

The best car lift depends on what you do and the space you have. Here's how the main types compare so you can shortlist fast.

2-post lifts

Two-post lifts raise the vehicle by the frame, leaving all four wheels free — the shop standard for brake, suspension, and exhaust work. They need ~11–12 ft of ceiling (or a low-ceiling model) and a solid anchored slab. Best all-around lift for a working garage.

4-post lifts

Four-post lifts are drive-on and usually free-standing — ideal for car storage, long-term service, and alignment. Easiest to use and no anchoring required on most models.

Scissor & mid-rise lifts

Scissor and mid-rise lifts save floor space and many are portable. Great for tire, brake, and detail work where you don't need full standing height.

Storage & specialty lifts

Home-storage lifts double your parking; inground lifts keep the bay clear; and mobile column lifts handle trucks and buses.

How to choose

Match capacity to your heaviest vehicle (10,000 lb covers most cars and light trucks), confirm your ceiling height and slab, and decide whether you need wheels-free access (2-post) or drive-on convenience (4-post). Every lift we sell is from an ALI-certified manufacturer, and we install nationwide. Talk to our installers or use the form below for a recommendation.

Frequently asked questions

What's the best car lift for a home garage?
For most home garages, a 10,000 lb 2-post lift gives full wheels-free access, while a free-standing 4-post lift is best if you want easy drive-on use and car storage. Low-ceiling and portable mid-rise options exist for tight spaces.
How much does a car lift cost?
Home-storage and portable lifts start around $2,500, 2-post and 4-post service lifts run roughly $3,000–$6,000, and heavy-duty commercial lifts cost more. Installation and 0% financing are available.
What ceiling height do I need for a car lift?
A standard 2-post lift needs about 11–12 ft; low-ceiling and mid-rise lifts fit under roughly 9–10 ft. Tell us your ceiling height and we'll recommend a lift that fits.
Are your car lifts ALI certified?
Yes — every lift we sell comes from an ALI/ETL-certified manufacturer, independent proof it meets ANSI safety standards.
Do you offer installation and financing?
Yes. We're a professional lift installer and can install nationwide, and 0% financing plus installation can be bundled into one turnkey quote.
