Signs of an electrical fault

Use your nose and eyes on the control box. A burnt smell — hot varnish or melted plastic — means something has been overheating: a cooked lug, a scorched contactor, or a failing motor winding. Look for browned terminals, melted insulation, black soot around a contact, and discolored wire. The smell of burnt electrical is never nothing; find the source before you put the lift back in service.
