Test the safety cutouts, don't just assume they work. Run the lift to full height and confirm the up-limit switch cuts power where it should. If the lift has an overhead shut-off bar, trip it and confirm the lift stops. A limit switch that's bent, corroded, or bypassed is a safety defect — the lift has to stop on its own at the top and when the bar is hit.
